Objectives and targets

  1. To make realistic estimate on hydro-climatological parameters in rain-fed sugarcane production in Sri Lanka.
  2. To analyse  farmer field-level and the project-level water balance
  3. To asses and characterise climate, soil and land factors affecting the water productivity of rain-fed sugarcane.
  4. To compare APSIM, AQUACROP and DSSAT crop models for sugarcane grown in Sri Lanka and select best suitable crop model for Sri Lanka and predict sugarcane productivity under different climatic scenarios.
